Deadwood Games is a Veteran owned and operated board game company founded by Matt Terry and Adam Colt. They became friends from their fraternal bond (Phi Delta Theta) after meeting at a University of Minnesota Alumni event Matt coordinated. In 2019, Adam created a concept for a game titled “The Wild Frontier”. He approached Matt with the concept in 2021, and by Jan 1, 2022, Matt and Adam created the company Deadwood Games, and they had their first working prototype for what was known as “Get F***d in the Wild West”. Matt coordinated hundred of hours of playtesting, created the rulebook and spent countless hours editing and refining from feedback from the play testers, helped Adam on new artwork and designs, and started making copies of the board game in his 1 bedroom apartment. In 2025, Adam unfortunately had to step down as co-owner, but he and Matt still remain very good friends!

In Oct 2025, Matt launched the project on gamefound. It was met with substantial negative feedback, mainly focused on the game’s title. He took the game off the site and spent the next several months working on a new title, new artwork, simplified the gameplay, and so much more.

In Jan 2026, the new title was announced – “Pioneers in Peril”!
